Technology

You would think in this day and age, pulling together a presentation would be easy…but I’m sitting here using an iMac for graphics, my Windows laptop for text (as the Mac only comes with a really basic text editor), and using Dropbox to transfer files between the two computers! Ridiculous!!!! But…its lots of fun seeing it all come together. The team have worked hard on content so it should be a job well done when its finished.

Uniforms

Following on from the Gisborne weekend, where we finalised our logo design, we are just about to get our polo shirts embroidered. Once that’s done we will have most of our uniform sorted! Will post pics when they are done.

Gisborne planning weekend

The team, and our significant others, traveled to Gisborne on 2 March for an intensive planning weekend. Stephen organised a fantastic base for us at Cedar House – if you are ever in Gisborne looking for a place to stay, go there! It had everything we needed, including a great conference room which is where we spent most of our weekend.

We continued to work on our presentation and finalised a number of bits and pieces. Graham Faulkner of the Gisborne Rotary Club kindly stopped by to share his experiences of GSE. Graham was part of the team that went to Denmark in 1982 and gave us some good tips on how to make the most of our time away.

After lunch it appeared the powerpointing, image dragging and dropping and logo designing got a bit much for some, and the floor made a great bed for those who needed to catch up on some sleep (pics to come!).

Saturday night we got to better know our team members and their partners as we shared a delicious meal of pizza and pasta and wound down with a few drinks while watching a game of rugby. Well, Leonie got wound up rather than down – she’s somewhat of an armchair commentator and referee, much to our amusement!

Sunday it was back to the boardroom where we tidied up the presentation and showed it to our guests. Then it was back on the road, each armed with few more things on the to-do list.
